AMATYC 2007 Dear Colleagues, Below you will find links to the PowerPoint presentation I gave at the keynote talk, and the transparencies I used for my presentation to Project Access. I will be adding material to this page for the next couple of weeks, so be sure to check back here from time to time. Also, if you have any questions or comments for me, please email me at I hope you will try some of the transparencies in your classes, and that you give yourself permission to use five minutes of any class period for whatever you find interesting in, and around, mathematics. Patterns and Connections in Algebra Getting Students into Teaching Links to Other Sites Postage Stamps of Mathematicians This page contains postage stamps involving mathematics. You will find many things here that you can use in class. Sierpinski Zoom Movie This page has the zoom movie of the Sierpinski triangle. Fractal Zoom Movies Toward the bottom of this page is the free movie player that you can download to play the other fractal zoom movies the were shown in the presentation. Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary This is the Merriam-Webster online dictionary. If you have on-line access in your classroom, this is a good place to go to look up definitions during class. For example, look up the definition for scientific notation. I think you will like it. Stages of the Sierpinski Triangle This site will let you see each stage of the Sierpinski triangle with a few clicks of your mouse.
