The research projects below are similar to the ones that appear in recent versions of my intermediate algebra books. I assign these projects for extra credit in my classes. I expect students to submit them in printed form, just as they would turn in a paper for another class. I have designed these problems so they will appeal to students with a variety of interests. There are projects for students studying English, history, philosophy, religion, and cartography (map-making), among others. Don't be concerned if you aren't familiar with the topics in the research projects. Have your students do the research and then report on what they have learned. You are welcome to use these research projects regardless of the text you are using.
