RESEARCH PROJECT: Drag Racing

The movie Heart Like a Wheel is based on the racing career of drag racer Shirley Muldowney. The movie includes a number of races. Choose four races as the basis for your report. For each race you choose, give a written description of the events leading to the race, along with the details of the race itself. Then draw a graph similar to the one in Figure 6 in Section 9.1. (For each graph, label the horizontal axis from 0 to 12 seconds, and the vertical axis from 0 to 200 miles per hour.) Follow each graph with a description of any significant events that happen during the race (such as a motor malfunction or a crash) and their correlation to the graph.
